As the bikes are quite an important aspect of the event (you know, just a little bit), this page is dedicated to showcasing them!

As we’re students, we don’t have top of the range racing bikes but both are decent entry-level racing bikes (both under £500).

Merida 880

Being ridden by Alistair Wooldrige, the Merida 880 sports the following:

• Frame: 6061 Aluminium Road Alloy
• Gears: Shimano ST 2200 STi Shifters and Shimano Sora front and rear derailleurs. (16 speed 53/39, 12-24).
• Wheels: Joytech front hub and Shimano rear hub with Alex DA16 rims
• Brakes: Lee Chi callipers.

Possible modifications for the event:

• Standard overhaul (new tyres, brake blocks, chain etc)
• New cassette (teeth starting to show wear after 1200 miles)

Giant SCR 3

Being ridden by Matt Karner, the SCR 3 sports the following:

• Frame: ALUXX aluminium
• Gears: Shimano Sora STI Shifters with Shimano Sora front derailleur and Shimano Tiagra rear derailleurs. (24 speed 30/42/52, 12-26).
• Wheels: Formula front and rear hubs with Alex DA22 rims
• Brakes: Shimano BR600.
